The health, safety and well-being of our people, partners and suppliers matters hugely. We all take responsibility, continually encouraging and supporting one another to take ownership of safety measures – ultimately ensuring we all go home safe and well.
We take a systematic approach to safety. We not only have rigorous processes, ongoing safety audits and reviews, and ongoing training but we also measure key outcomes to ensure our safety-first culture is never compromised.

What outcomes do we measure?
● Lost days incident rate (LDIR)
● Total recordable incident rate (TRIR)
● Lost day severity rate (LDSR)
● Accident frequency rate (AFR)
● Accident incident rate (AIR)
● Near misses
● Unsafe conditions
● Weekly, monthly and quarterly safety audits by all levels, from project teams to leadership
Mental health
We are committed to breaking the stigma around mental ill-health in our industry and supporting the wellbeing of our people.
We have nine trained mental health first aiders in our business and we partner with industry charities to deliver workshops in each of our offices. This ensures we have a good working environment for all our people and offer strong support for people in need.
Certification
Whilst our internal safety processes are a daily part of the Hall & Kay way, we are also assessed and certified by the following organisations:
● Acclaim
● Considerate Constructors
● CHAS
● Safecontractor
● SMAS Worksafe
● Principal Contractor
