Hall & Kay’s Safety-First event in partnership with Overbury

May 22, 2024News

The Hall & Kay way emphasises a ‘safety first’ mindset. But what does this look like in practice?

In collaboration with Overbury, our Health & Safety Manager recently hosted a Safety-First event for Hall & Kay London Project teams. This event provided an opportunity to conduct a group safety inspection, discuss the safe practices observed on-site and refocus on the importance of never compromising safety.

Speaking at the event Russell Dixon, Hall & Kay COO, said, “We pride ourselves on delivering for our clients. We all share that drive to get the job done. So, it’s important for us to consistently pause and reaffirm our commitment to safety. That’s why these events are so important. They ensure we continue to work together, support each other, and always put safety first, no compromise.”

Safeguarding our mental health

Paul Buckley, Hall & Kay Health & Safety Manager, also highlighted that our motto ‘safety first, no compromise’ applies to both our mental and physical wellbeing. “Just as we follow safety procedures to protect ourselves from physical harm, we must also safeguard our mental health. We aim to create a culture on-site and in offices where communication, support, and empathy are not just encouraged but part of our day-to-day operations.”

Partnering with Overbury

Ryan Henry, Overbury’s Health & Safety Manager, added, “Ensuring that safety is first without compromise has made the team a powerful partner for us in delivering a highly complex and risky element of our project. Together, as a strong partnership, we achieve high-quality outcomes. It challenges us to find comfort in the complexity of all scenarios while working together. The team on this project is clearly passionate and I would say embodies the Hall & Kay way.”

Currently, on behalf of Overbury, we are stripping out all existing fire protection systems and installing new shell and core sprinkler systems, plus fit-out, for one of Europe’s largest refurbishment projects. This includes new fire pumps, wet riser pumps, gas suppression systems and a pre-action system.
