Fire detection & alarms
Complete systems to protect what matters most.Fire detection systems are the essential starting point for fire protection. It’s important to install a system that meets your building’s unique needs.
Why do you need a fire detection and alarm system?
By law. Every building in the UK needs to be able to detect a fire to comply with UK building regulations (Approved Document B – ‘Fire Safety Measures for a Building’). However, not all fire detection systems are equal. Factors such as the type of building, its height, function, classification, and the number of occupants have a major impact on the kind of fire detection and alarm system that’s needed.
Early detection. Fire detection systems are designed to discover fires early in their development, so that occupants can be safely evacuated. These detectors are usually coupled to a fire alarm system to alert all occupants and the fire services.
UK Building Regulations. Requirement for all new non-domestic buildings with more than one storey to provide ‘refuge’ areas – places of relative safety where people who cannot easily use fire escape routes can wait and call for assistance. A disabled refuge needs simple, effective two-way communication so that people sheltering there can be in contact with the outside world, enabling rescue teams to determine where assistance is required and reassuring people that help is coming.
Design
Our experienced designers start by carefully evaluating the overall risk of fire and the likely effects on the occupants and the premises. They carefully design systems with all these factors in mind and to comply with UK Building Regulations.
We are also highly experienced in designing fire alarm systems that minimise the visual impact on their surroundings, an important consideration for historic and architect-designed properties.
Install
We pride ourselves on delivering on time and on spec, and we use a rigorous process to ensure we consistently succeed.
We have a vast amount of experience installing fire detection systems of all levels of complexity – not only in new build projects but in live operational environments too. We understand the importance of cause and effect testing and carefully planning interactions with other systems. At design stage, we always ensure that responsibility for these interfaces is clear and understood by all the parties involved.
Maintain
We take responsibility for your fire detection system from start to finish and provide full through-life service support once your system is installed.
Our UK service team consists of 100+ experienced engineers nationwide who will carry out routine maintenance and remedial repairs to ensure a safe and sustainable environment for your people.
