On behalf of the London Borough of Redbridge we were asked to streamline their access control network by consolidating various systems across multiple sites within the Redbridge Borough into one access control system and provide the client with one central hosted server. The project scope covered both public and private spaces, centres caring for vulnerable adults and children, and schools therefore the client required the ability to efficiently and reliably group card holders with varying access permissions. We subsequently designed a new integrated system and introduced single Secure card technology with central printing and system management.

The variety of Access Control Systems used across the borough presented a number of challenges. The use of different card technologies, user profiles, car park barriers and traffic management systems across different buildings presented a diverse project across multiple locations, multiple stakeholders and various building occupancy types often with sub-tenants. To combat these logistical challenges, we prioritised pre-programming and preparation to reduce onsite downtime.

We upgraded all readers to ‘secure envelope’ technology. It was important to give the client greater peace of mind and the difficulty to clone such cards due to increased encryption and unique coding achieved this. We also introduced FollowMe technology to enable printing and cashless vending and further reduce the risk of unauthorised personnel intercepting data.

We continue to maintain all security systems across the London Borough of Redbridge.
