Heathrow T2A, inaugurated as the Queen’s Terminal, was opened by Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II on the 4 th of June 2014. Replacing the original Terminal 2, which had been in operation since 1955, the new terminal covers 300,000 sq. metres and serves as a hub for 23 airlines.

The building won numerous awards for its innovative design, sustainability features and passenger experience, including the 2015 RIBA Stirling Prize for architecture.

We were chosen to design, supply, install and commission the sprinkler systems and wet risers for all back-of-house areas, the concourse and shop units. The system comprised 21 wet control valves for the main building and 3 pre-action systems to protect the roadway underneath.

“This was a fascinating project to be involved with! The footprint was so incredibly vast and working predominantly airside presented its own logistical challenges, but the commitment of our team and partnering with a client such as Crown House made for another excellent project.”
