Our install team delivered a fully integrated security system with lift destination calling at Bloom Clerkenwell on behalf of HB Reavis in January 2020.

The initial brief included full system design and installation of CCTV, Access Control, Intercoms and speed lanes. The installation played a significant part in the building securing BREEAM’s outstanding status and ‘Secured by Design’ security standard. The project was also successfully completed in August 2021 and rolled out within 3 months prior to practical completion. Due to the project’s success of the project, we were asked to provide ongoing support to the building and acquired a 3-year maintenance contract.

The project’s most significant challenges came from the client’s desire to display lift information within the speed lane gates, integrate the new QR readers with their existing Visitor Management System (VMS) and provide a cost saving to the end-user. We were able to utilise a specific CCTV platform to provide a more cost-effective solution for the client; however, the CCTV and Access Control manufacturer required additional resources to configure the necessary integrations.

To successfully integrate the panel supplied by the lift manufacturer into the speed lanes, we created a custom script via the high-level lift integration to
trigger outputs from the Access Control to the three sets of speed lane inputs. Taking this action resulted in the speed lanes clearly indicating which lift had been called on entry to the speed lanes. This allowed us to fully integrate the existing Visitor Management System into the Access Control so that visitors with valid QR codes could be granted entry and full audit tracking with other buildings.
