As part of Sutton Housing Partnership’s local housing strategy, a risk assessment of the proposed block refurbishment was carried out at Chaucer House. Concerns were raised regarding Fire Safety and after some deliberation, sprinklers were considered the best option to maintain the building’s integrity.
In 2014 Hall & Kay began the residential sprinkler system installation to the flats and bin stores, in accordance with BS 9251. This was part of a larger building refurbishment project, which included kitchen and bathroom refurbishments, along with the recladding of the external facade.
The sprinkler system was installed with the minimum of disruption to the residents, who remained in occupation during the whole of the project duration. Close liaison with Sutton Housing Partnership and tenants’ representatives was paramount and resulted in the successful completion of the project, on time and on budget.
